Open Question: Home furnishings in Athens Greece?
I came across a store called Home or Casa or something similar that sells mediterranean style things mainly for the outside, cotton throws, candle holders , but also plates, glasses, and some furniture as well. I would like to find it again but can't remember the exact name nor where it was. I thought it was near Omonia square but could not find it. Does someone have an idea of what this store might be? So many thanks to all moreOpen Question: Is this true? Welcome to BarryWorld?
Anyone as puzzled as I was about all the media hype on our new Administration, or notice the media does not ask our new Administration any challenging questions? There's been a great deal of censorship in the news, and on the Internet, it forums and newspapers in the past few months, and we are losing our freedom of speech quickly. Is this why all the deaths at Disneyland and Disney World don't get reported? Walt Disney Productions is one of Obama's largest money contributors - the donations below do not include the contributions by the companies owned by Disney. For the last 18 months I have worked for a well known home furnishings store just a few hours a week. Recently a neighbour of mine bought something in one of our stores. She then sold her house and decided she would like to exchange the items as they wouldnt go in her new house. I told her to take them back to her local store(not the one I work in). She was a bit worried as she didnt have the receipt, but I said to her it was ok as long as she just wanted an exchange. She took them to the local store and they refused as the items were over £100. I checked with my manager when I was next in work and she said that wasnt the case, that they should do a refund. I told my neighbour but she didnt want to go back to the local store as she felt they were rude to her. As I was going to another town the following day, I told her that I would try and exchange them there for her. I didnt tell them I was staff, and the manager refused yet again. It was only that I was going there that I offered to exchange them for her as I knew the policy. When I returned to work the following week, I asked my manager again and she told me to bring them in there and she would do it which she did. My neighbour was then happy. Yesterday I went into work for a few extra hours as we had a big delivery coming in. When I got there I immediately recognised a manager who had come from another store to help, as the one who refused me the exchange when I took them. She mustve recognised me and told my assisstant manager, who then called me in the office and asked me about it. I told her yes I had tried to do the exchange for my neighbour and asked what the problem was. I also mentioned that they were all aware of it in my store as I had discussed it with them. She had someone taking notes. She said she just had to ask me and I went back to work. An hour later, I was brought in again and she suspended me! She gave me a suspension notice for 5 days and it says on the notice "suspicious refunds and transactions" I am absolutely livid as I havent done anything wrong. My neighbour feels terrible and cried all day yesterday as she feels so bad. I am just so angry as I feel like I have been treated like a criminal and I dont like the wording on the suspension notice. At no time did I ever try to get a refund. My neighbour didnt have a receipt so I knew this wasnt possible. She didnt want a refund anyway, only a straight swap. I feel like they are obviously thinking I stole these items, which is impossible as every time you leave the store, bags are searched. It is a very large item so there is no way you could get it out the store without someone knowing. I feel totally humiliated and I now will never go back there as I cannot work with people who dont trust me and this has left a bitter taste in my mouth. I have worked very hard there and gone the extra mile for them on a few occasions. I would like any advice anyone can give me on this matter. Thanks moreOpen Question: What do people think about this current news article about Wal-Mart?
Keeping a new flock Wal-Mart's T.F. store is an example of where it wants its other stores to be to keep upscale customers coming back http://www.magicvalley.com/articles/2009/06/24/business/local_state/164854.txt Times-News staff and wire reports The Wal-Mart Supercenter in Twin Falls is an example of what the company hopes to do with nearly 3,600 others stores across the nation. That's because the recession steered a new type of customer to Wal-Mart - deeper in the pockets and suddenly looking for bargains. Now the world's largest retailer has to figure out how to keep that customer when the economy recovers. So Wal-Mart is bringing in more brand names, ditching scores of other products and even redesigning hundreds of stores to give them wider aisles, better lighting and better sight lines. It's more than just a cosmetic upgrade. That new breed of customer also spends about 40 percent more than the traditional Wal-Mart shopper, and the retailer senses an opportunity to accelerate its growth. It's placing a big bet on the redesign of most of its 3,600 stores, started last fall. This fiscal year, it plans to redo up to 600 at a cost from $1.6 billion to $1.7 billion. A corporate spokeswoman said the prototype for the remodeling will be similar to the Supercenter that opened in Twin Falls in June, which includes lower shelves to make it easier to see across the store, better lighting and wider aisles. Expanded electronics areas will include interactive displays to test video games and portable gadgets. The store now carries brands like Danskin and Better Homes and Gardens, and its electronics section now stocks pricier products like Palm Inc.'s well-received new Pre smartphone. Whether it all works, Wall Street analysts say, depends in part on how quickly the behemoth retailer can remodel and keep shoppers satisfied. Concerns about how Wal-Mart will keep its momentum have sent its stock down 13 percent this year. The early signs are positive, putting pressure on the rest of the industry. Target Corp., whose sales have been hampered by its emphasis on nonessentials like trendy jeans, is expanding its fresh food offerings. Best Buy Co. is beefing up customer service. Other discounters, including TJX Cos. Inc., which sells name-brand fashions and home furnishings, Costco Wholesale Corp. and BJ's Wholesale Club Inc., are focusing on how to hold on to new customers lured by low prices during the recession. But Wal-Mart, which only three years ago struggled with cluttered stores, long lines, stiff towels and unattractive clothing, has a bigger hurdle to climb. And it has to move fast to win over people who still have negative feelings about shopping there. Wal-Mart, which topped $400 billion in sales last year, attracts more than 140 million customers per week. But to get them to buy more than just groceries, which account for about half of annual sales, it's paring its product lineup and making room for better brands. Consultant Burt P. Flickinger III estimates the remodeled stores are carrying 10 to 15 percent less inventory, particularly getting rid of no-name labels. Wal-Mart executives say 17 percent of the chain's traffic growth in February came from new customers, and they're spending 40 percent more per trip. More than half of those shoppers living in households that take in more than $50,000 a year. While that may not be considered affluent, it's a big departure from Wal-Mart's core customers, of whom one in five does not have a bank account or has limited access to financial services. moreResolved Question: Ordered something and the color isnot the same as shown on the web?

My husband is being stationed in Bamberg and is set for deployment for Oct. 09 we will get there at the end of August 09. We have a 1 year old son as well. I work full time and planned on going back to school this month but than was told we are being pcs'd to germany so i decided to wait.. (again) well my question is.. is it worth it to move for 6 weeks across the world? i am in DC now and give up my gov job and my husbands family? my family lives in texas and the fam i have here well dont really have any. i make really good money just about the same as my husband and I dont know how giving up my income and downsizing a couple thousand $$ is going to take on my family. but my husband really wants us to move with him and than just come back after he deploys, but how would that work and also BAH here in DC is great in germany its about 500 less and i would be giving up my income. Also i have my own apartment but i only stay there for 8 days out of the month since my inlaws keep my son during the day i have found it easier to stay anight there during the week days, and my husband wants me to give that up if i stay in the states but he doesnt pay any of the bills. All of his income is being put into a savings for our new home and its furnishings. but yes so i pay rent car note phones everything on my income and still do okay so i was just hoping that someone would see my side and if not give me some good advice that would help me.. i really dont know what to do.. the thought of moving to another country excites me but to be there for 12 months without my husband scares me. and about Bamberg.. has anyone been there as a wife of a deployed solider and stayed throughtout the deployment, instead of coming home? sorry for the run on.. but clearly yall can see im lost.. thanks for the help in advance Also I am in the national guard and have the option to go back active. Can anyone give me a listing for housing there if i chose to go back active. Okay so i know the economy is bad but jeez women, its not that bad where we wouldnt be able to afford to make the move on our own, i might not have been totally honest about the money thing.. when i said we make about the same well not really we both make several thousand a month but i kinda make a bit more than he does. so money isnt the problem i guess i was just looking for reason not to move, i mean he does deploy in Oct but after long hard thoughts and talking it over with him. i am going to move there with him and stay for his total tour there. i will just fly in family every few months and visit the states once a month if even that. I have a HUGE fan of the Sims- i have played every expansion pack available for Sims/Sims 2 and Idk- i have had Sims 3 since last Tuesday and i'm not so sure i like it. Also- i cant stand the way you have to "get to know" other sims- its like this whole long process and you have to ask a MILLION questions! Ugh. May 18, 2008 Tony Blair’s expenses shredded Jon Ungoed-Thomas Some of Tony Blair’s expenses claims, which the High Court last week ruled should be disclosed to the public, have been shredded. The documents, itemising Blair’s claims for household expenses during a year of his premiership, were destroyed in the midst of a legal battle over whether they should be published. All MPs’ expenses are funded by taxpayers. It is a criminal offence to destroy documents to prevent their disclosure under freedom of information (FOI) laws, but Westminster officials say they were unaware that the files were the subject of a legal challenge. They insist they were destroyed by mistake. All MPs are entitled to claim for home renovations, furnishings, domestic appliances and groceries with a tariff based on prices at John Lewis, the department store. MPs have for years refused to disclose details of their expenses, which average £136,000, more than twice their salaries. This position became increasingly untenable with the arrival of FOI laws in January 2005. Since then a number of media organisations, including The Sunday Times, have been conducting a legal batttle for full disclosure of MPs’ housing allowance, currently worth a maximum of £23,083. RELATED LINKS MPs defeated in battle to hide their expenses Speaker faces Commons revolt over expenses It has now emerged that some of Blair’s files covering claims for Myrobella, his constituency home, were destroyed by Commons officials after they rejected The Sunday Times’s FOI request in January 2005 to see his claims for £43,029 of public money covering a three-year period. Norman Baker, who has campaigned for more transparency in his fellow MPs’ expenses, said: “How convenient that some of Tony Blair’s expenses have been shredded. This is either incompetence or obstruction of the Freedom of Information Act and should be properly investigated.” The shredding of the files has emerged in documents from the protracted legal battle over MPs’ expenses. So far the efforts by the Commons authorities to block disclosure have run up legal bills likely to cost the taxpayer about £150,000. Last week the Commons authorities failed in a High Court appeal to block the disclosure of the expenses of 14 MPs, including Blair and Margaret Beckett, the former foreign secretary. moreVoting Question: base of market segmentation?

We recently bought an armoire off of Craigs List - it is old and pretty cool... we really like it. Ex Police officer and current MP of Ryedale, John Greenway billed the expenses office for £500 worth of plants for his second home in London in 2004 - 2006 + £3.5K of furnishings, a 55p box of matches and 2 boxes of firlighters at 99p each. He subsequently sold that home for a profit of £280K and the purchaser said the garden was a key selling point of the house. As he has already been deselected for the Ryedale and Thirsk area he will be standing down at the next election should he be required to repay this and the decorating expenses we also paid for that property prior to its sale (£1900) out of his pay-off of £105,000 ? Wouldn't you think an ex police officer would understand the 'spirit' of the expenses versus benefit in kind tax avoidance also? Cool Hal, actually something's not right in all of this. I am have been with my fella for almost 2 years now, and spend practically every night there. We have spoken about me moving in with him and yesterday he said he will never be ready for anybody to move in with him so I should just move in. He is a very split personality type of guy. In a bad mood you can tell him something is white and he will argue to say it is black, which is not frequent. I am 22 and he is 37 and set in his ways. So my point is is it too eager for me to tell him that I would want to add some home furnishings and little bits like that. I also want to get sky tv, weather we remain to live together or not. But I am scared he may think I am rushing. I spend about six nights a week there already and have done for the past year and a half. He is not abusive and will not get violent so I am okay with the arguments. The final conversation came about when he said to me ' You know this whole moving in thing?' which I cut him off and said 'I know you are not ready' which is when he said he will never be ready. He said he never asks for things he just waits for them to happen or come to him. So I know he wants this just maybe not as much as I do. moreResolved Question: How about President Obama's first 100 days?
WASHINGTON — As he entered office, President Barack Obama made a symbolic bow to frugality, putting off the costly redecorating of the Oval Office that his predecessors had done. But if the furnishings have remained largely the same — right down to the stain on the big oval rug — the way Obama looks and acts there is decidedly different from his predecessor, not to mention all those who went before. At the 100-day mark, he's putting his own style on the presidency. Opportunistic. Pragmatic. Confident. Deliberate. Polite to friend and foe alike. Partisan. Polarizing. A better talker than George W. Bush . A more disciplined manager than Bill Clinton . Some traits he'll maintain throughout his presidency. Some could change over his term. John F. Kennedy grew skeptical after a disastrous invasion of Cuba early in his presidency, learning to challenge aides and adopting an executive style that saw him and the country through a nuclear showdown with the Soviet Union . "He's flexible," George Edwards , a scholar of the presidency and currently a visiting fellow at Oxford University , said of Obama. "He's still learning." Nothing defines his early days as much as the way he's seized the political opportunity provided by economic crisis to push forward an ambitious liberal agenda that otherwise would have little chance of getting through Congress . It includes an explosion of federal spending, the groundwork for universal health care and broad regulation of the environment, and soaring deficits and debt. Even before he took office, Obama knew he faced a rare moment of crisis — one when a president could push through an agenda dramatically changing the government, and perhaps the country itself. Franklin D. Roosevelt did it in 1933 at the height of the Great Depression. Lyndon Johnson did it in 1964-65 in the aftermath of Kennedy's assassination. Ronald Reagan did it in the early 1980s at a peak of the Cold War and economic stagflation. George W. Bush did it after the 2001 terrorist attacks. Shifting priorities to push through his massive package of spending surges and tax cuts — many already on his or the Democratic agenda — was pivotal, because it's unclear how much Obama could get through Congress absent the crisis. Those who counseled him to wait on the big programmatic priorities and focus first only on fighting the economic downturn misunderstood that, but Obama got it. As he seeks to get his way, at home and abroad, Obama's demonstrated a penchant for working people one on one, apparently confident that he can win over anyone. While he may be laying the groundwork for more civil relations with Republicans and legislative successes later, he won only three Republican Senate votes for his stimulus package and none in the House of Representatives , none from either chamber for his budget, and he also failed to convince European leaders to send combat troops to help in Afghanistan . "He has a difficult time persuading people," Edwards said. "He's been very good at maintaining his coalition. What he can't do is bring other people in." A careful and deliberate communicator, Obama relies on the teleprompter more than any other president. When he speaks off the cuff, such as at town hall meetings, he often pauses as though he's searching for precisely the right words. Communication skills are important — Bush was so bad he joked that his mouth was where words went to die. But they alone cannot change the landscape. "What they can do is recognize and exploit opportunities," Edwards said. "It's not the same as creating opportunities." What Obama says is easily more important than how he says it. For example, he's shown a readiness to be pragmatic on some things as he's transitioned from campaigning to governing. Examples: — After talking to commanders, he slowed his proposed drawdown of troops from Iraq . — Heading to Turkey in search of help with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan , he dropped a campaign pledge to say the killing of Armenians nearly a century ago was genocide. — To the dismay of liberals, he echoed Bush and argued that national security was threatened by two lawsuits alleging the torture of a suspected terrorist and the warrantless surveillance of two American attorneys and an Islamic charity. Obama, like most who come to the office, is sure of himself. One example is his willingness to admit a mistake, such as when Tom Daschle , his nominee to be secretary of Health and Human Services , was forced to withdraw after being caught in a tax mess. "I screwed up," Obama said. Another is his recent speech at Georgetown University explaining why he was trying to do so many things at once, using a Biblical metaphor to say he wanted to make sure the nation's house was built on a solid foundation, on rock instead of sand. The night was dark and windy around the hospital. McKinley, better known as Kin, was making her way back to her car after visiting her old and frail father. His parting words rang in her head. "Follow the red trail down the sunflower path..." Kin shook her head, her blonde hair whirling about her face like a hurricane. He was just a doddering old fool! She unlocked her car and hefted the magazines into the boot mindlessly, still thinking about her father. "Is he trying to tell me something?" Kin asked the wind, tilting her face up to see the stars. "Or is he insane?" The wind howled around her head, making her hair dance wildly. "I thought so," she sighed, closing the boot with a slam. Kin opened and closed the door to her apartment quickly, savouring the familiar golden paint and Girlfriend magazines scattered around. She went to the kitchen and started dinner by getting out some mince and chopping up some onion. "Mum? Are you home?" a sweet voice rang out. "Yep, Kiyomi, in the kitchen. We're having spag bol," Kin called out, smiling at the sound of her adopted daughter's voice. "Oh, boy!" Kiyomi ran in and hugged Kin. Kin could smell the orchid coming off Kiyomi's jet black hair. "Did Grandpapa say anything exciting?" Kiyomi asked, finally releasing her mother from her bone-crushing hug. "No, just insane ramblings, as usual," Kin lied as she broke up the meat in the pan and watched her teenaged daughter spin in circles around her. "And would you stop calling him that? He's Grandpa." "To me, he's Grandpapa!" Kiyomi insisted, still twirling like a ribbon in the wind. "Okay, fine. Just open the balcony doors. Sit outside if you want. I think Kyo is out there being...um, emo, was it?" Kin poured tomato soup into the mixture of onion and mince. "Yep, emo. See you, Mum!" Kiyumi opened the doors and shut them quickly again, knowing her mother hated the wind inside because it messed up her furnishings. Kin leaned against the bench carefully and blew her fringe out of her face. It was going to be a tough week at ork and home having her father's blatherings on the brain. Wow thanks Dan-somebody. I'd like CONTRUCTIVE critism please, not stuff that makes me feel like I wanna punch you in the face. I think maybe you should tell me what excatly I did wrong and exactly what i did right. Aww, thanks, guys, I appreciate this! Uh, Dani, the sunflower path thing is going to be explained in further chapters! I mean, geez, drying paint is fun (not) but it's designed to make you wonder, for God's sake! Fine. It;s NOT a windy night anymore. It's a night filled with wind!!! Excluding rent- I need to estimate how much it will cost to move out of my parents house. Basically to furnish a 2 bedroom, 1 of which will be an office, dining room, living room & kitchen. I have cookware & dishes, but no furniture. I do not want the cheap college style ikea furnishings but am looking for nice, quality furniture that I can keep for years. Tenants moved out giving only 2 weeks notice. They owed us rent (more than the deposit) but left no new address and do not answer calls. The property they lived in is receiving MANY letters from bailiffs to recover possessions from the home if they do not pay in 48 hours. They clearly stated that they will enter the home whether any one is in or not. Not only are they receiving letters from bailiffs, they also have many red bills stating that if they don't pay up, they will have to send someone down to recover possessions to go to auction. If they do enter the home, they will be taking my possessions, i.e. the furnishings I have provided. Furthermore, they will be taking possessions that belong to new tenants who will be moving in soon. I cannot call today because lines are closed today and letters stated that they will be coming this weekend. I went to a furniture store (not a chain, I don't think) Home Sweet Furnishings (or something like that). I FELL IN LOVE with this chair that I MUST HAVE. Only problem is that they are 400 ea. and really are more of an accent chair than an actual piece of furniture that will get good use. I just can't see myself paying the $800 for the pair. Plus, the workers are really rude and I would rather not buy from them. My question is, how can I find the name of a piece of furniture if the store doesn't offer it? I know exactly what it looks like (high back, armless accent chair. geometric pattern. khaki color with black rectangles and red rectangles. But besides going to every furniture store online and looking through countless chairs, does anyone have an idea on how I could figure out the name? Furniture store is of no help...no name on the set that it belonged to and they workers wont tell me the name because they know I will go elsewhere to buy it. I've sent the friend in and i've tried being nice to see if they will tell me. I know other stores carry this chair and that's why they are being so rude about telling me who makes it. Because they know I can find it cheaper elsewhere. I also tried taking pictures with my camera phone and they yelled at me??? Ok i have heard ALOT of stories about this so called Lilith. But here is the one that really cought my eye. According to Jewish folklore, Lilith was the first wife of Adam. She was banished from the Garden of Eden when she refused to make herself subservient to Adam (specifically, she refused to get into the missionary position with him during sex). When she was cast out, she was made into a demon figure, and Adam was given a second wife, Eve, who was fashioned from his rib to ensure her obedience to her man. The following is an excerpt from a Jewish folktale that describes some of the evils attributed to Lilith: "The wife brought the mirror and all of the fine furnishings in the cellar to her own home and proudly displayed it. She hung the mirror in the room of their daughter, who was a dark-haired coquette. The girl glanced at herself in the mirror all the time, and in this way she was drawn into Lilith's web.... For that mirror had hung in the the den of demons, and a daughter of Lilith had made her home there. And when the mirror was taken from the haunted house, the demoness came with it. For every mirror is a gateway to the Other World and leads directly to Lilith's cave. That is the cave Lilith went to when she abandoned Adam and the Garden of Eden for all time, the cave where she sported with her demon lovers. From these unions multitudes of demons were born, who flocked from that cave and infiltrated the world. And when they want to return, they simply enter the nearest mirror. That is why it is said that Lilith makes her home in every mirror... "Now the daughter of Lilith who made her home in that mirror watched every movement of the girl who posed before it. She bided her time and one day she slipped out of the mirror and took possession of the girl, entering through her eyes. In this way she took control of her, stirring her desire at will.... So it happened that this young girl, driven by the evil wishes of Lilith's daughter, ran around with young men who lived in the same neighborhood." From "Lilith's Cave," Lilith's Cave: Jewish tales of the supernatural, edited by Howard Schwartz (San Francisco: Harper & Row, 1988) Other folktales describe of how Lilith captured Jewish babies in the night and ate them, and how she led young girls and young husbands astray. Although Lilith was demonized by early Jewish culture as a symbol of promiscuity and disobedience, many modern Jewish feminists see Lilith as a positive figure, a model of woman as equal to man in the creation story. For further reference, please check out the pages I have listed below, or read the introduction to the collection of stories in Lilith's Cave. My partner is looking to buy a house. He wants to put an offer in for $55,000 on a particular house, and is willing to pay up to $65,000. (house listed at $70,000. Bank owned, Michigan.) He makes about $30,000 a year after taxes ($2,500 a month). He pays $150 a month for car insurance and cell phone bill. Other then that, no debt, and he currently lives with his parents. He has $19,000 saved up solely for purchasing a home (about $8,000 otherwise, 23 yrs old), and has a good credit score. He has been approved for a $100,000 mortgage. He wants to put down 20% (11k-13k), and he wants a 15 year mortgage, and hopes to secure an interest rate around 5.0%. This particular home's taxes are about $2,500 a year (=$210 month). Neither of us have owned a home, but we are guessing we will pay around an additional $300 a month in utilities(?). Not to mention home insurances. We both live fairly frugally. I am still in college, owe $3,000 in student loans ($50 a month min payment). I expect to accumulate another $10,000 : / of student debt in two years time. I make about $700 a month. I pull my own weight as far as personal expenses. I'm kind of unsure about my career, (business, but idk what) so I'm not going to bet on making much more than minimum wage for a couple years. I currently have little sayings due to college expenses (about $2,000), but live with my parents now and have no other bills. His name will be on the title, with his parent's co-signing. If they accept the offer, we hope to spend a few months painting and such. Eventually I will move in. (I know, not married, not engaged, but we have been together 6 years and are committed, and just want to wait till we are older to get married.) He is buying the home, and probably wouldn't be in so enthusiastic and intent on doing so if the markets weren't as buyer-friendly as they are now. Well in school we got a scrambled essay, and we have to put it in the right order. And I need some help doing it. There are 15 sections you have to put in order, and it has to be 5 paragraphs. There is a space between each sections, if the sentences are together, then it's a part of the same section. Here is the scrambled essay: Cats are low maintenance, civilized compainions. People who have small living quarters or less time for pet car should appreciate these characterists of cats. Howeve, many people who have plenty of space and time still opt to have a cat because they love the cat persoanilty. In many ways, cats are the ideal house pet. Many cats are affectionate. They will snuggle up and ask to be pette, or scrathed under th chin. Who can resist a purring cat Contrarty to popular opinion, cats can be trained. Using rewards and punish, ents, just like with a dog, a cat can be trained to aviod unwatned behavoir or preform tricks. Cats will even fetch! Lastly, one of the most attractive features of cats as house pets is their ease of care. "A dog is a man's best friend". That common saying may contain some truth, but dogs are not the only animal whose companionship people enjoy. For many people, a cat is their best friend. Cat's also don't often have "accidents". Mother cats train their kittens to use the litter box, and most cats will use it without fail from that time on. Even stray cats usually understaind the concept when shown the box and will use it regualry. In the second place, cats are civilized members of the household. If they;re not feeling affectionate, cats are generally quite playfull. They love to chase balls and feathrs, or just about anything dangling from a string. They especially enjoy playing when their owners are particingppating in the game. Cats do have claws, and owners must take provision for this. A tall scratching post in a favorite cat area of te house willl often keep the cat contenct to leave the furniture alone. As a last resort, of course, cats can be declawed. Cats do not have to be walked. They get plenty of exersise in the house as they play, and they do their business in the litter box. Cleaning a littler box is a quick, painless procedure. In the first place, people enjoy the compainship of cats. Cats also take care of their own grooming. Bathing a cat is almost never necessary because under orindary circumstances cats clean themselves. Cats are more particualr about personal cleanliness than people are. Despite what dog lovers may belive, cats make excellent house pets as they are good companions, they are civilezed members of the household, and they are easy to care for. Unlike dogs, cats do not bark or make other lound noises. Most cats don't even meow very often. They generally lead a quiet existence. In addition, cats can be left home alone for a few hours without fear. Unlike some pets, most cats will not destroy the furnishings when left home alone. They are contect to go about their usual activities until their owners return. moreResolved Question: Trapped in relationship... please help!?
In 4 yr relationship that has many many issues. I live hundreds of miles from family and friends, I have nobody except his family here. I have nobody that can financially help me. I am unemployed, with 2 young children so I have no funds to pick up and move back home and he uses the to his advantage. He refuses to move out so I can sublease the home, and refuses to let me leave. He is extremely aggressive (not physically anymore) towards me and is very emotionally abusing towards me. I've told him so many times that I'm not happy and want out but he doesn't take me seriously no matter what I do. I have no resources to help me out. No way to move my entire household of furnishings out... How would we work out visitation arrangements if I were to move out-of-state? Any suggestions on how to break free and start over? I'm so ready to be happy again... especially for my babies' sake. My family is not an option for financial help. My mother is not a part of my life and my father is retired and just lost his pension. I can't get a job- I've been searching for almost a year. The only jobs available wont even pay enough to cover daycare costs. Called cops previously... they don't want to hear about anything if there's no domestic violence. They told me they can't make him leave because his name is on the lease too moreResolved Question: Legal Will .. term "Just debts"?
My mother passed away, and I am her executor/executrix .. the first line of her will states; "First: I direct that all my just debts, funeral expenses and expenses of administration be paid." .. keep in mind the term "just debts" .. the second line states; "Second: I give, devise and bequeath my home, located at (address), together with all household goods and furnishings, to my daughter (my name), for her sole use and possession, absolutely and forever. In the event that (my name) shall predecease me, then I direct that this bequest shall be null and void and said bequest shall become part of my residual estate and distributed as set forth herin below." ... keep in mind that it says I get the house, basically.. and does say GIVE, devise and bequeath. Third line states; "Third: I give, devise and bequeath all the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, whether real, personal or mixed, of whatsoever nature and wheresoever situate, of which I may die seized or possessed or to which I may be entitled at the time of death, unto my children, (myself and 4 brothers names), equally, share and share alike, for their sole use and possession, absolutely and forever, or the survivors. .. then it gets into saying that she has appointed me as executor .. gives me full power and authority without application to court to sell, mortgage lease and manage her estate both real, personal or mixed .. upon whatever terms I may deem for the best interest of my mother's estate .. and to deliver any and all deeds, mortgages, conveyances or other instruments pertaining thereto all as fully, freely and absolutely and my mother would if she were alive to do it herself. In closing it states that executor/executrix shall serve without bond. Having said all of that .. I have a large problem. To me, since my mother entered into a contract with the mortgage company about this house .... by doing so, she was making a debt for herself. One that I had absolutely no say in. That would have been her thinking as well. (I know my mother and at least 1 of my brothers would be willing to agree with me ... i'm the one that took care of her until she died, there is proof of that .. and she did want me to have this house as stress-free as humanly possible .. which would include financial stress. Her intention was to provide a safe home for myself and my son so that I would not have to be dependant on anyone ever again unless I chose to.) When mom had her will made out, she had it made out to say that all of her just debts should be paid. She figured that would include part of the mortgage ... and she figured that the life insurance that she had with my brothers names on it was what they would inherit .. and the money in the bank accounts would pay off the mortgage and help with her funeral expenses to take the pressure off of me. All of that sounds good in theory but that is not what is happening. The lawyer that I have handling the estate says "You were willed a house and the debt for it goes with it. The estate money is there to pay funeral, pay bills .. and anything left over is to be divided between her children." ... I have that on one side of me and I know it is not how my mother wanted it. Another of my brothers knows this too .. in fact .. two of my brothers know it and would be willing to say so. But my lawyer is saying that is not what "just debt" means. He says since I was willed the house, I was willed the debt for the house. Now the bank that holds the mortgage, on the other hand, is saying something else. They are saying that mom had an agreement with them ... not me, but mom. They are saying that mom, by willing the house to me, is in default. They have it written in her mortgage that she does not have the right to sell or give the house at any point for any reason without their written permission. Since she willed me the house, they are saying she is in default .. and they expect payment in full ... from the estate. Not from me... they are saying that since the first line of her will says that she directs that all of her just debts be paid .. and the second line says she leaves me the house .... the debt of the house is suppose to be paid along with other bills .. and if there is debt left over .... then I have the choice as to either keep the house that was left to me and pay the remainder of the mortgage off completely .... or sell the house to satisfy the mortgage.. but in any case .. they are saying that I am not the first one responsible for the mortgage. Upon telling my lawyer this .... he told me that no matter what .. I am responsible for the money in my mother's estate. If they attach that money for the mortgage, then he is saying that I am legally bound to pay back the estate for the money that the bank took to fulfill an obligation that my mother entered into with them. I don't think that is right. Does anybody out there know what I am going through and have some insigh sorry .. got cut off there. Does anyone have any insight legally into what is going on here? Because i'm very confused. It's bad when not only your own attorney but also the bank that your mother dealt with for so long and their attorney are saying two different things. The state this is happening in is New York. I'm not in NYC... so city law wouldn't be what I am looking for here. I'm upstate in upper NY State. Thanks. Have a good night. I called an attorney tonight about this .. I told him what my lawyer was saying about "you were willed the house and when you were willed the house, you were willed the debt of the house" .. the attorney that I called said "Well, I don't think I would interpret just debt that way. I believe the estate is responsible for that mortgage since it is a debt..." .... then upon hearing who my attorney is, he said I should talk to my attorney and he couldn't help me any further. So he did imply that my attorney was wrong, until he found out who he was ... and all of a sudden, it was talk to my attorney. Does anyone know if the surrogates court that appointed me executor of the will, even though mom had already named me executor, would be likely to know the law regarding the term "Just debt" enough to know if it includes ALL debt ... or just funeral and legal fees and medical bills? moreResolved Question: Where are some good sites to buy gothic/victorian and punk furniture and house furnishings?
